Makurdi College of Nursing Sciences (MCONS) held a one-day new students orientation event to welcome new students on campus and to the college.
The Orientation event started with a welcome note from the Proprietor of the College, in which he expressed his joy having to meet with his students for the first time. He assured the students of a comfortable stay all through their stay on campus. He also promised to make everything needed, available to make the college offer world-class education that follows international standards.
The Orientation event was dedicated to ensuring a smooth and successful transition into the college life by introducing new students to the various staff, management, facilities and services provided by the college. During the Orientation event, students got familiarized with the academic programmes and the college life and had the chance to meet with staff of the college. They were given talks and presentation about the Nursing education and practice within and outside Nigeria.
The Orientation event included various presentations and activities. The college consultant, Nr. Ikpom E.T presented the overview of the college, Nr. Maria Igomu presented a paper on moral conduct and ethics. The HOD Nr. Silas Oyibo presented the Academic structure of the college while Mrs. Ugbagir Nancy gave orientation about the use of the college Library. Another presentation at the event was a presentation from the Matron of the hostel, Mrs. Priscila Atoza who gave the students an orientation about the use of the hostels as well as the rules and regulations of the hostel.
Presenting next was the College Chief Security Officer, Mr. Titus Tsavwua who gave the new students a talk on security and the security tips around Makurdi town and their immediate environment. The Head of ICT, Mr. Abiji Nicodemus gave the students orientation about ICT in the college and also the use of the student portal for all kinds of payments and other academic activities.
The activities of the orientation event ended successfully, welcoming a record number of new students who became part of MCONS’ community and who will also develop their knowledge, skills and stand out in an increasingly competitive job market as well as benefit from the College’s extensive industry links.
